About the role
APOPO is preparing to launch a major Capacity Building Mine Action project in Ukraine. To support this fast-moving and high-impact program, we are recruiting a Finance Manager to be based in our Kyiv office.
In this role, you will lead the day-to-day financial management of the project, ensuring full compliance with donor requirements and APOPO policies. You will work closely with the Capacity Building Project Manager, the CFO, and project teams to support sound financial decision-making and enable timely, compliant program delivery.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced finance professional who is comfortable operating in complex, donor-regulated environments and understands the realities of working in Ukraine.
Key responsibilities
- Manage financial operations for the donor-funded project in Ukraine
- Ensure compliance with donor financial rules, APOPO policies, and local regulations
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budget vs actual analyses
- Monitor expenditure, burn rates, and financial risks
- Coordinate audits and financial reviews
- Support and build the capacity of local finance staff
- Strengthen financial systems, processes, and internal controls
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance and/or grant management
- Strong experience with donor-funded projects, specifically the UN
- Solid understanding of donor compliance, audits, and internal controls
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- High level of spoken and written English
- Available and willing to be based in Kyiv.
